Do you have crooked teeth and want to straighten them more discretely than braces allow? Consider the benefits of Invisalign!
Spectrum Family Dentistry can help you straighten your teeth without the inconvenience of braces. Continue reading to discover the benefits of these invisible, removable braces.
What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an adult version of traditional metal braces that are more discrete because they’re transparent. They’re also removable, so they avoid many of the problems associated with prolonged orthodontic treatment.
Benefits of Invisalign
Invisalign provides several benefits over traditional braces.
Improved Dental Health
Crooked teeth present numerous dental issues. They retain food and plaque easier and are more difficult to brush and floss. They also lead to TMJ and other jaw issues.
Whether you use braces or Invisalign, straight teeth are about more than a beautiful smile.
Fewer Complications
Traditional braces can result in several serious problems. Because they use metal brackets when they break, it’s an emergency, and they can poke your teeth and gums.
Braces are sharp and difficult to adequately brush and clean. Many people end up with teeth that are straight but stained because of improper cleaning.
Because Invisaligners are plastic and removable, you can easily brush your teeth and won’t worry about the damage they cause if they break.
Faster Results
Whereas normal braces can require several years to improve your teeth, with Invisalign, most people notice complete results within 18 months. You should notice your first results after just a few weeks.
Our Invisalign Procedure
How does Spectrum Family Dentistry fit you with Invisalign? We use the following steps.
1. Initial Consultation
During your initial visit, your orthodontist determines if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign. We’ll use a special scanner to map your teeth and develop a customized treatment plan. With the scans, we ensure your new aligners are a perfect fit.
Your aligners are produced in a laboratory and take about four weeks to arrive. At this point, you’ll start your treatment plan.
2. Transforming Your Teeth
During the year or two you have your aligners, you’ll check in with your orthodontist every four to eight weeks to update your progress and receive new aligners.
3. Maintaining the Smile
With your treatment complete, you’ll maintain your changes by wearing a retainer at night. Without the retainers, you risk your teeth returning to their original state.
Am I a Good Candidate for Invisalign?
Invisalign is best for adults and patients with minor to severe orthodontic issues. These include:
- Teeth crowding
- Gaps in your teeth
- A misaligned bite
If you have any of the following severe issues, your orthodontist should suggest other forms of treatment:
- Deep bites
- Misshapen teeth
- Severe misalignment
When you schedule a consultation with Spectrum Family Dentistry, we can determine if Invisalign is the best course of treatment to straighten your teeth.
